Youth MTB Programs

Youth Mountain Bike Programs offer a chance for youth to come out and explore their local trails with a professional guide(s). It’s also a great opportunity to meet other youth who love mountain biking as much as you do.

This winter we are offering a Tuesday night riding program for advanced riders– running January through until March!

What to bring, Winterized: Your mountain bike in good working condition, a waterproof rain shell, a long sleeve base layer to go under your shell (merino wool* will keep you the warmest even after it’s wet, synthetics are okay), your helmet, gloves, knee pads and elbow pads are recommended, shorts or active wear pants, your riding shoes, water either in a bottle if your bike has a cage or in a hydration backpack system (camel back etc), a snack (banana, energy bar, peanut butter sandwich, something easy to carry and easy to eat with high calories).

What not to bring, Winterized: Cotton anything. Cotton gets wet, and stays wet while retaining little to no insulation value.

* Merino Wool: it is widely regarded as one of the best base layer fabrics around, owing to it’s ability to insulate and retain your body heat even while it’s wet. You can find merino wool base layers at most outdoor retail shops (Robinson’s, Ocean River Sports, MEC, Valhalla Pure Outfitters, etc). Yes it will be more expensive  than synthetic or cotton alternatives, but if you take care of it, it will last you 2-3 years of heavy use. The two essential pieces to have for your kit are merino wool socks, and a merino wool long sleeve base layer.
