Beginner Skills

The aim of the beginner programs is to orientate new riders with a range of mountain bike skills that will empower them to explore the dynamic pursuit that is mountain biking.

Here is a list of foundational skills that, you will learn in a beginner program. When practiced and retained this skills will enable a rider to comfortably enjoy a wide variety of mountain bike trails:

  • Balance
  • Body position
  • Breaking
  • Gearing and shifting
  • Falling and dismounting
  • Peddling efficiency
  • Understanding terrain and line selection
  • Basic handling and maneuvering of your bike: turning, cornering, bike and body steering
